Formalizing Probabilistic Safety Claims
A safety claim for a system is a statement that the system, which is subject to hazardous conditions, satisfies a given set of properties. Following work by John Rushby and Bev Littlewood, this paper presents a mathematical framework that can be used to state and formally prove probabilistic safety claims. It also enables hazardous conditions, their uncertainties, and their interactions to be i...
متن کاملProbabilistic Safety Programs
Achieving safe control under uncertainty is a key problem that needs to be tackled for enabling real-world autonomous robots and cyber-physical systems. This paper introduces Probabilistic Safety Programs (PSP) that embed both the uncertainty in the environment as well as invariants that determine safety parameters. The goal of these PSPs is to evaluate future actions or trajectories and determ...
متن کاملNotes on Computational Uncertainties in Probabilistic Risk/Safety Assessment
In this article, we study computational uncertainties in probabilistic risk/safety assessment resulting from the computational complexity of calculations of risk indicators. We argue that the risk analyst faces the fundamental epistemic and aleatory uncertainties of risk assessment with a bounded calculation capacity, and that this bounded capacity over-determines both the design of models and ...
متن کاملProbabilistic Normed Groups
In this paper, we introduce the probabilistic normed groups. Among other results, we investigate the continuityof inner automorphisms of a group and the continuity of left and right shifts in probabilistic group-norm. We also study midconvex functions defined on probabilistic normed groups and give some results about locally boundedness of such functions.
